Pavements much too slender to be shared, Discussion board Information & Major Tales

I have been biking for practically 20 a long time on the park connector network or on the street.

A short while ago, I purchased a compact foldable bicycle far more ideal for checking out Singapore’s several attractive parks.

Final Thursday, I cycled to the wetland in Lorong Halus.

Because I was on a tiny bicycle, I did not want to go on the road to prevent obstructing website traffic.

So I cycled together the pavements/footpaths beside the roads, and created the adhering to observations.

Very first, all the pavements are pretty slim, earning it challenging for pedestrians and cyclists to share them.

Second, several cyclists, even all those on massive bikes, are using the pavements rather of the roadways as it is safer to do so.

Additional people have changed their commuting behaviors and taken up biking during the Covid-19 pandemic.

If the authorities want to encourage individuals to cycle instead of driving, they will need to do anything about the slim footpaths.

I advise that all pavements and footpaths be widened to at minimum 2m.

There is no need to have to devote a lot of money to construct unique bike lanes on our roads. I come to feel that basically widening all the footpaths is very good ample, and is safer for cyclists as well.

There are a ton of positive aspects for our well being and environment if men and women can shift away from driving and rather use bicycles to get to their locations.

Unfortunately, Singapore’s present infrastructure is not conducive to that.
